Shahid Afridi to lead Pakistan in Asia Cup 2012
DUBAI: All-rounder Shahid Afridi is likely to be the new captain of Pakistan team in ODI and T20 formats of Cricket. After disgraceful performance against England in ODI series, the PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf announced on a local news channel that Pakistan team need to have different captains for all formats of cricket.
According to the sources, all-rounder Shahid Afridi will get the job back to lead his side in Asia Cup 2012 starting Bangladesh.
Shahid Afridi has already impressed the cricket lovers with his leadership qualities, he was much praised by former cricketers in World Cup 2011 as a captain. The all-rounder was sided from the job due to the argument with ex-coach Waqar Younas on team selection in West Indies tour.
According to the PCB officials, many senior players will be dropped from the team to introduce new faces. The decision of dropping senior players is taken for the preparation of Twenty20 World Cup and 2015 World Cup.
Zaka Ashraf also showed his dissent over the team performance in ODI series, not only this but also criticized the selectors for naming a weak team, he ordered to select different teams for all formats of cricket in the future.
