T20 World Cup 2012 Fixtures & Schedule – Cricket World Cup 2012

Twenty20 World Cup 2012 will be fourth ICC World Twenty20 competition since it began from the year 2007, South Africa. The Fourth International ICC Twenty20 World Cup will be played in Sri Lanka in 2012. ICC World Twenty20 2012 will feature 16 teams, against 12 teams participated in last World Twenty20 2010. Out of total sixteen teams, six teams would be selected from 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. The Qualifying round will be played in UAE in early 2012. The details on ICC Qualifier round are yet to be announced.

2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier would comprise ten qualifiers from regional Twenty20 tournaments in addition to the six nations which have either ODI/Twenty20 status in ICC. The World Twenty20 2012 will be played in the month of September 2012. The fixture of World Twenty20 would be revealed once, Qualifier round of ICC World Twenty20 2012 gets over. Tournament is likely to be mix of Robin Round and Knockout.

ICC World Twenty20 is an International Tournament held every two years except in the year 2012 which was held as replacement for postponed ICC Champions Trophy which was schedule to be held in 2007 in Pakistan. The current Champion of ICC World Twenty20 tournament is England who won in 2010. India and Pakistan has been World Twenty20 Champion once. India won the inaugural T20 World Cup while Pakistan won it in the year 2009 held in England. The Twenty20 World Cup is getting popularity due to its ability to attract large no. of spectators in ground as well as on television sets.
